Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit Veterinarians Surgeons to hospital practice in Northampton.

About the employer

Being an 8 vet, 24 hour hospital practice the caseload is high and variable. Commonly performed surgeries are cruciates, fracture repairs, TECABO, perineal urethrostomies, BOAS, skin flaps and similar interesting cases. The practice is fully equipped with all the toys you would expect, and we provide our own 24 hour care for hospitalised patients needing intensive post op care.

This Practice is rated “Outstanding” by the RCVS across multiple categories including Emergency and Critical Care, Team and Professional Responsibility, Client Service, Patient Consultation Service and Diagnostic Service and rated “Good” in In-Patient Service, you would be joining an established and well respected team in the centre of Northampton. We have just been accredited an RCVS hospital, and were also a nominee for the Graduate Practice of the Year in 2018.

The Practice is located just an hour from London and Birmingham and Milton Keynes is 30 minutes away by car. Northampton has great commuter links with airports within an hour’s drive. If you prefer the country life there are lovely picturesque villages and countryside within 15 minutes of the practice, and the local area has many outstanding schools. Housing in Northampton is much more affordable than surrounding areas making it a great place to live and work!

They have a dedicated night team who provide OOH cover for eight other practices as well as working closely with the RSPCA and other local charities. They have built exceptionally strong and trusted relationships with clients and we are looking for a vet who enjoys this side of the role just as much as the clinical responsibilities.

Job requirements

This practice is great for a new grad- we have an experienced team to learn from and have a varied caseload, referring very few cases. We never lone work, so there is always either another vet or a veterinary nurse on shift with a new grad. We would not ask for sole charge until we feel that the team member is ready, and they too feel ready. We really care about our team and believe this aspect of support is very important.

Above all else, we value someone who is a team player; committed to our patients and clients; and is keen to be a part of our amazing team!
